چکیده

A description, results and the current status of the track-finding routines developed for the Transition Radiation Detector (TRD) of the CBM experiment are presented. The trackfinding algorithm is based on the Kalman Filter and track following methods. Two different approaches have been used: a standalone TRD track-finder (using only TRD information) and an algorithm based on the information from tracks found in preceding detectors. Performances of the algorithms are presented. A detector layout study has been performed in order to optimize the detector setup while keeping high reconstruction efficiency.

Algorithms and Software for Event Reconstruction in the RICH, TRD and MUCH Detectors of the CBM Experiment

The Compressed Baryonic Matter (CBM) experiment at the future FAIR facility at Darmstadt will measure dileptons emitted from the hot and dense phase in heavy-ion collisions. Very fast event reconstruction is extremely important for CBM because of the huge amount of data which has to be handled. In this contribution the parallel event reconstruction algorithms in the Ring Imaging CHerenkov detec...

CBM-RICH layout optimization

The RICH detector in CBM shall provide electron identification together with the TRD detectors for the measurement of low-mass vector mesons and charmonium in the di-electron decay channel. Both observables are considered key probes for the study of compressed baryonic matter in heavy ion collisions. A RICH design based on first general considerations has been developed and studied in detector ...

Computational Challenges for the CBM Experiment

CBM (“Compressed Baryonic Matter”) is an experiment being prepared to operate at the future Facility for Anti-Proton and Ion Research (FAIR) in Darmstadt, Germany, from 2018 on. CBM will explore the high-density region of the QCD phase diagram by investigating nuclear collisions from 2 to 45 GeV beam energy per nucleon. Its main focus is the measurement of very rare probes (e.g. charmed hadrons...

Development and Test of a Real-Size Prototype for the CBM TRD

The Compressed Baryonic Matter (CBM) experiment at FAIR at the GSI is a dedicated heavy-ion experiment. It is designed to study strongly interacting matter in ultrarelativistic heavy ion-collisions and to explore the QCD phase diagram of nuclear matter. CBM consists of several detectors, one of them the Transition Radiation Detector (TRD) providing particle tracking and electron identification....

High efficiency TRD for CBM in test beam and simulation

The CBM (Compressed Baryonic Matter) experiment is designed as a fixed target experiment, in which a TRD shall provide tracking of all charged particles, electron identification and discrimination against a large pion background. In order to fulfill these tasks in the context of high count rates of up to 150 kHz/cm and high particle multiplicities, we constructed TRD prototypes based on a symme...
